Shamshad Akhtar, Caretaker Finance Minister removed from another key post

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has reportedly dismissedShamshad Akhtar from another significant role.Sources indicate thatShamshad Akhtar, who served as the Caretaker Finance Minister, has beenrelieved of her position as the chairman of the Cabinet Committee onPrivatization (CCoP).

In her place, Federal Minister for Privatization Fawad Hassan Fawad hasbeen appointed as the new chairman of the committee.

Earlier, on September 14, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar hadremoved Shamshad Akhtar from her role as Minister for Privatization.Sourcesalso report that the caretaker government has taken substantial actionsregarding its authority to negotiate agreements with other nations.

Furthermore, it’s noted that the Finance Minister was also replaced as thehead of the Cabinet Committee on Inter-Governmental CommercialTransactions. Fawad Hasan Fawad subsequently assumed the role of FederalMinister for Privatization, according to sources.

Reports have emerged suggesting that during a meeting with the Senate’sStanding Committee on Finance, the minister humorously mentioned heroccasional doubts about taking up the job. However, she added that thiscomment was made in jest.

She also informed the committee that the state of the economy was worsethan her initial expectations, and the caretaker government would soonprovide a roadmap for addressing these challenges
