Pakistan Cricket team top slot in danger yet again

In One Day International (ODI) cricket, the national team’s ranking hasonce again become precarious. There have been continuous changes in the ODIrankings over the past month. Australia briefly claimed the top position, but Pakistan regained the number one spot shortly after.

Despite a disappointing performance in the Super Four round of the AsiaCup, Green Shirts reclaimed the top position due to their past positiveresults and other teams’ poor performances.

If the Indian team had not suffered defeat at the hands of Bangladesh inthe Super Four round, they would have secured the number one positioninstead of Babar Azam’s side. This setback pushed the Blueshirts to thethird spot while the Pakistani side moved to the second position. Despitebecoming Asian champions by defeating Sri Lanka, Green Shirts had theopportunity to reach the top because Australia faced defeat at the hands ofSouth Africa in the fifth ODI, resulting in a 2-3 series loss.

This loss dropped the Australian team to the third spot in the ODIrankings, with their points tally now at 113. Although Pakistan and Indiahave a rating points tally of 115, Green Shirts occupy the top position dueto decimal points.

India can reach the top position before the World Cup, but to achieve thisgoal, they will need to sweep the upcoming 3 ODI series against Australia, starting on September 22 in their own country
