The Lahore High Court has taken a significant step by issuing non-bailablewarrants against the Inspector General of Islamabad, who failed to appearin court to provide a response regarding the arrest of Pervaiz Elahi. Thisdevelopment stems from a petition submitted to the court, highlighting aperplexing situation where a judicial magistrate had ordered the release ofthe former prime minister, yet he remained in detention. The petitionerimplored the court to take action, demanding the recovery of Elahi and hissubsequent release.
In response to this pressing matter, the Lahore High Court didn’t hesitateto escalate the situation further. They issued non-bailable warrantsagainst the Inspector General for his failure to present Pervaiz Elahi incourt, indicating the seriousness of the situation. Additionally, bailablewarrants were also issued for Islamabad’s district commissioner.
Furthermore, a contempt notice was served to Islamabad’s SSP for theirfailure to execute the earlier bailable warrants meant for the InspectorGeneral, intensifying the legal proceedings surrounding this case.
