In London, former finance minister Ishaq Dar has stated that there are noobstacles preventing PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif from participating inelections.
Dar explained that Article 62 (1) (f), which reduced the disqualificationperiod to five years, was passed by Parliament and also received approvalfrom the president. Consequently, after the approval of Article 62 (1) (f),former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP)leader Jahangir Tareen are now eligible to contest elections.
Ishaq Dar refrained from commenting on PPP chairman Bilawal BhuttoZardari, mentioning that while he considers him like a son, the PDMcoalition government made decisions collectively during its 17-monthtenure.
Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had previously announced NawazSharif’s return to Pakistan on October 21, assuring a warm welcome upon hisarrival.
Shehbaz Sharif asserted that Nawaz Sharif’s removal from power was theresult of a conspiracy, and the alleged rigging in the 2018 generalelections had left Pakistan lagging behind in the region. He emphasizedthat Nawaz Sharif would return to Pakistan, face the law, and there wasunanimity on this matter within the party.
