Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), isset to make his return to Pakistan, according to a statement by the party’sspokesperson in London. This decision comes in the wake of a Supreme Court(SC) verdict regarding amendments to the National Accountability Bureau(NAB).
The spokesperson emphasized that the PML-N is not concerned about theimplications of this verdict and has chosen to proceed with Nawaz Sharif’sreturn as scheduled on October 21.
During a media interaction in London, PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif and ChiefOrganizer Maryam Nawaz’s spokesperson, Muhammad Zubair, expressed theiranticipation of the Supreme Court’s decision on the NAB Amendments case.
Zubair underlined that the party has no objections or reservationsconcerning this particular judicial ruling. It’s clear that the PML-N iscommitted to its plan for Nawaz Sharif’s return despite the legaldevelopments.
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court of Pakistan struck down theamendments made to the NAB laws that had been introduced during the tenureof the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led government. This decision,made in a majority 2-1 verdict, resulted from a petition by PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan challenging the amendments.
Consequently, graft cases against various political figures, includingNawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, and Yousuf Raza Gilani, will be revived andreferred to accountability courts, marking a significant turn of events inPakistan’s political landscape
