Sindh Government silent about deadly virus outbreak in province

Sindh is witnessing a concerning resurgence of malaria, with over 269,000cases reported recently.

The areas most severely affected include Hyderabad Division (with over132,000 cases), Mirpur Khas (with more than 66,000 cases), Larkana (withover 48,000 cases), Sukkur (with over 11,000 cases), Benazirabad (with over5,000 cases), and Karachi (with over 2,000 cases).

However, the Sindh government has yet to implement concrete measures totackle this widespread disease. Residents of the province are urginggovernment officials to take action before the situation worsens. Malaria,a mosquito-borne illness, has a significant global presence, impactingmillions of people annually. Global statistics underscore its seriousness,with estimates indicating 350 to 500 million infections and 1 to 3 milliondeaths each year.

This disease predominantly affects impoverished regions. In addition tothe concerning rise in malaria, dengue fever is spreading rapidly,particularly in Rawalpindi. This surge has prompted health officials andlocal authorities in Punjab to increase their vigilance.
