PTI faces another setback from the Supreme Court

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) recently made a significant move byfiling a plea in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, seeking the swiftorganization of general elections within a 90-day timeframe.

However, this endeavor encountered a setback as the Supreme Court respondedby raising objections to the PTI’s plea, eventually returning it. Thecourt’s primary contention was that the plaintiff had not pursued theappropriate channels before presenting the plea, thereby highlighting aprocedural flaw. Additionally, the plea lacked a clear articulation of howthe election delay would infringe upon fundamental rights.

The PTI’s decision to approach the Supreme Court on August 28 to addressconcerns regarding the postponement of general elections signaled theircommitment to electoral transparency and adherence to constitutionaltimelines.
