On Thursday, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja convened asignificant consultative session of the Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP) in response to President Arif Alvi’s proposal regarding the timetablefor the forthcoming general elections in the nation.
It has been reported that the ECP chief arranged this meeting uponreceiving a letter from President Alvi, suggesting November 6 as theprospective date for the next general elections. Nevertheless, specificdetails regarding the timing of the consultative session have yet to bedetermined, with the primary agenda being the review of the president’sletter.
During this gathering, the ECP’s legal team and legal experts will play apivotal role in providing valuable insights into the matter at hand. Themeeting will serve as a platform for a comprehensive examination of theproposal put forward by President Alvi, considering its implications andfeasibility.
Among the attendees, in addition to Chief Election Commissioner SikandarSultan Raja, will be the four chiefs representing the ECP’s provincialoffices, alongside other relevant stakeholders.
