Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar has proposed an increase in the militarybudget. During an interview with a private TV channel, Aaj News, he statedthat there should be an increase in the military budget. He also discussedthe extension of the ISI chief, saying it’s a matter of national security,and the decision will be made after consulting all relevant stakeholders.
Regarding the possible visit of Saudi Crown Prince to Pakistan, hementioned that Mohammed bin Salman will visit Pakistan for an extendedperiod. Responding to questions about PTI’s response to protests, he saidthat events on May 9 were unfortunate, but the government would seekjustice rather than changing the government. If the Supreme Court declaresthe NAB amendments unconstitutional, they will appeal, emphasizing thatlegislation is the prerogative of Parliament.
He also mentioned that there will be a crackdown on illegal Afghanmigrants. As for the timing of elections in Pakistan, he stated thatelections won’t be rushed unnecessarily, waiting for delimitation to becompleted, and it’s essential that constituencies are fairly demarcated toavoid favoring any particular political party.
He emphasized that the Election Commission should not be pressured andshould be allowed to do its job independently. The Prime Minister’s Houseand the federal cabinet are not part of the Election Commission; it is anindependent institution that should operate according to its own plans.
Regarding the statement made by Bilawal Bhutto about not letting thecaretaker government take charge, he said he’s not aware of any newconcerns on their part
