Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui,accompanied by members of the Rabita Committee, held a press conference atPakistan House in Karachi on Tuesday. During the conference, Siddiquistrongly advocated for the establishment of a judicial commission toinvestigate the tragic Baldia factory fire case.
This demand comes after the disheartening realization that the verdict inthis case, which resulted in the death sentences of two MQM-P workers, wasdelivered after an agonizing 12-year delay. Siddiqui expressed profoundsorrow over the loss of countless lives in the incident.
Siddiqui emphasized that the victims of the Baldia factory fire, both thosewho lost their lives and those who survived, were affiliated with MQM-P. Hepledged the unwavering commitment of the party to secure justice for allits workers, including those who were convicted in the case. Furthermore,Siddiqui asserted the party’s belief that its workers were innocent andcontended that the responsibility for the tragic fire lies squarely withthe factory owners.
In a recent development, the Sindh High Court (SHC) upheld the decision ofan anti-terrorism court (ATC) regarding the Baldia factory fire case. Thisdecision, announced on Monday, saw the rejection of appeals filed by twoMQM-P activists who had received death sentences. The MQM-P continues topress for a judicial commission to thoroughly investigate the case andbring justice to the victims and their families.
