Pakistan decided to bring in two replacement fast bowlers due to Haris Raufand Naseem Shah experiencing minor injuries during the rain-affected AsiaCup Super 4 match against India, as reported by ARY News.
As per the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) statement, Shahnawaz Dahani andZaman Khan have been summoned as standby fast bowlers in response to theinjuries sustained by Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah during the India match.
The statement emphasized that this step is purely precautionary, aimed atsafeguarding the players’ fitness and well-being ahead of the upcoming ICCMen’s Cricket World Cup next month.
It was mentioned in the statement that Haris and Naseem will continue to bemonitored by the team’s medical staff.
The statement concluded by stating that the team management would only seekreplacements from the ACC technical committee if Haris or Naseem aredeclared unfit to play for the next seven days.
Pakistan faced setbacks as Haris Rauf suffered a strain and had to withdrawfrom the tournament, while Naseem Shah also left the field with discomfortin his hand.
Notably, in a rain-affected Super Four match of the 2023 Asia Cup on thereserve day, Virat Kohli and the returning KL Rahul played unbeatencenturies, guiding India to a dominant 228-run victory over Pakistan.
