Interim Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani announced that a formaldiplomatic protest had been made to the Afghan charge d’affaires regardingthe recent terrorist attack on two military posts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’sChitral district.
During a press conference, Minister Jilani stated that Pakistan hadsummoned the charge d’affaires to Islamabad and strongly expressed itsdisapproval of the incident.
He emphasized that it was the Afghan government’s responsibility to preventcross-border attacks originating from its territory and urged them to quellgroups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Minister Jilani describedthe Chitral incident as regrettable and underlined that the Pakistanigovernment was treating such occurrences with utmost seriousness.
He concluded by demanding that the Afghan government take measures toensure the non-recurrence of such incidents. On Wednesday, four securitypersonnel lost their lives, and over 16 terrorists were killed in afirefight along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. The terrorists hadlaunched an assault on two security checkpoints in the southern region ofChitral
