President Arif Alvi makes history with unprecedented record

The President of the country, Dr. Arif Alvi, has made history by becomingfirst elected president to continue for more than five years. Despitecompleting his term, he remains in office. Arif Alvi became the fourthpresident of the country to complete his term, holding the position formore than five years. The constitutional responsibilities will continueuntil the election of the new president. Dr. Arif Alvi’s five-year term asthe President has come to an end; he assumed the presidential office onSeptember 9, 2018.

After completing his term, Dr. Arif Alvi will not leave the presidencyvacant but will continue to perform presidential duties until the electionof the new president. Last week, after some important consultations, thePresident expressed his willingness to fulfill his duties until theelection of the new president, while he completed his visit to Lahore andreturned to Islamabad.

Before returning to Islamabad, President Arif Alvi attended a gathering atData Darbar and also offered special prayers.

According to the Constitution of Pakistan, the presidential term is fiveyears, and after the term ends, all four provincial assemblies and theNational Assembly elect the new president. In the current situation, theelectoral college for presidential elections is not complete, which will becompleted after the new general elections.
