In Lahore, Muhammad Khan Bhatti was presented before Administrative JudgeNasim Ahmed Wark in the accountability courts. A physical remand requestfor Muhammad Khan Bhatti was submitted by NAB, and evidence was presentedby the accused’s advocate, Amjad Parvez.
NAB contended that the accused, Muhammad Khan Bhatti, was involved incorruption of over 1 billion rupees in 116 development projects in Gujaratthrough kickbacks received in development contracts. It was alleged thatsubstantial kickbacks, exceeding 1 billion rupees, were obtained indevelopment contracts. Contractor Azmat Hayat was allegedly used forbribery in contracts.
The National Accountability Bureau further stated that the accused, evenbefore the start of construction work, continued to collect commissions bymaking complete payments to the contractors, and the funds from apparentcorruption were being transferred into the personal accounts of ChaudhryParvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi through Muhammad Khan Bhatti.
Subsequently, after hearing both sides’ arguments, the courts decided tokeep Muhammad Khan Bhatti in physical remand. After a short while, thecourt approved a five-day physical remand for the accused and orderedMuhammad Khan Bhatti to be presented again on September 13th.
Speaking to journalists in the courtroom, Muhammad Khan Bhatti claimed hisinnocence, stating that he had provided all the facts to investigatingofficers and hoped for complete justice from Allah’s house. He expressedhope that the honorable court would also deliver justice.
