Bahrain has taken a significant step by introducing a new service thatallows expatriates to renew their residency and work permits, even if theyare currently outside the country. This service is available to expatriatesin both the commercial and government sectors, including registeredlaborers and domestic workers. It is being offered in partnership with theLabour Market Regularity Authority (LMRA).
To access this service, individuals can use the National Portal of Bahrainto renew their residency permits. Additionally, work permits can be renewedthrough either the Expatriate Management System or the official LMRAchannels.
The announcement of this new service was made by Shaikh Hisham binAbdulrahman Al Khalifa, the Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports, andResidence Affairs (NPRA) at the Interior Ministry. He highlighted that thisinitiative is part of their modernization efforts, carried out incollaboration with government and private organizations.
Shaikh Hisham also commended the LMRA for their cooperation in providingvarious facilities. Nibras Mohammed Talib, the Chief Executive Officer ofLMRA, mentioned that employers can renew work permits through theExpatriate Management System, allowing them to choose the duration of thepermit and complete the payment process.
Employers also have the option to complete the renewal process and pay therequired fees by visiting one of the banks authorized by the LMRA.
