A prominent businessman has asserted that Chief of Army Staff (COAS)General Asim Munir holds the belief that none of the political parties inthe country demonstrates sincere intentions towards Pakistan. Thisrevelation was made during a televised discussion where businessman ZubairMotiwala, who had participated in a meeting with Gen Munir alongside IrfanShaikh in Lahore, shared insights. Additionally, Irfan Shaikh, President ofthe Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce, also offered hisperspective on the same talk show, Nadeem Malik Live, which was hosted byNadeem Malik and subsequently shared on the social media platform X.
When questioned by Nadeem Malik about the army chief’s views on politicalparties, Motiwala conveyed that General Munir had explicitly stated thatnone of the political entities displayed genuine commitment to Pakistan.Furthermore, Irfan Sheikh disclosed during the interview that the armychief had specifically mentioned eight to ten politicians who hadtransitioned from motorcycle-riding to residing abroad.
These revelations have emerged amidst several recent reports indicatingmeetings between the army chief and businessmen in both Lahore and Karachi.In these interactions, Gen Munir purportedly put forth potential solutionsto Pakistan’s economic challenges.
These reports also allude to the army chief’s claim of securing asubstantial $25 billion investment from Saudi Arabia through the SpecialInvestment Facilitation Council, with an additional promise of eventuallybringing in a total of $100 billion. General Munir’s statements in thesemeetings extended to his firm stance against corruption and his commitmentto curbing smuggling activities. He notably expressed concerns over theimpact of the IMF program on Pakistan’s economy, emphasizing the need toavoid returning to reliance on external lenders.
