In a recent development, Inzamam-ul-Haq, the chief selector of the nationalcricket team, has decided to step down from his role. His decision stemsfrom concerns over the prevalence of unsubstantiated allegations, as hebelieves that it is prudent to resign if his integrity is questioned.
He stressed the importance of conducting thorough investigations beforemaking accusations and assured his cooperation with the Pakistan CricketBoard for any inquiry, offering to provide evidence to support his claims.
Additionally, Inzamam-ul-Haq had recommended to the PCB that they shouldinitiate an inquiry and, if allegations are made against him, ensure thatsupporting evidence is presented. He clarified that he had no involvementwith a player’s agent company in the UK and deemed such accusationsunfounded.
When allegations were raised against him, he held discussions with theboard, and upon learning that a committee of five individuals had beenformed, he chose to resign from his position until the committee concludesits investigation.
He concluded by expressing his willingness to engage in furtherdiscussions with the PCB once everything is clarified. It is noteworthythat Inzamam-ul-Haq’s resignation coincided with the national cricketteam’s presence in India for the World Cup, where they faced a series ofdefeats.
Chairman of the PCB Management Committee, Zaka Ashraf, mentioned that hewas not present at the office, making it impossible for him to have metInzamam-ul-Haq.
