Hezbollah shoots down Israeli military drone with Surface to Air Missile

In southern Lebanon, on Sunday, Hezbollah reported shooting down an Israelidrone with a surface-to-air missile. This marked the first time Hezbollahhad publicly acknowledged such an incident as tensions at the Lebaneseborder intensified.

The drone was targeted near Khiam, approximately 5 km (3 miles) from theIsraeli border, and it was observed falling inside Israeli territory.Notably, it was the first time Hezbollah had officially declared itscapability to shoot down a drone, although they had previously impliedhaving this capability.

The Israeli Defense Ministry had not provided an immediate response.

Additionally, the United Nations’ Lebanon peacekeeping force, UNIFIL,reported on Sunday that one of its members was injured when their base nearthe village of Houla, situated on the Lebanese-Israeli border, was hit byshells the previous Saturday.

Over the past three weeks, the Israeli army and Hezbollah in Lebanon hadbeen engaging in daily exchanges of fire, coinciding with the start of theGaza conflict.
