Pakistan s top official strongly hits out against Canadian Ambassador at UN

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Munir Akram strong criticismof Canada’s proposed amendment at the United Nations. Akram raised concernsabout the amendment, which aimed to condemn Hamas for the October 7 attacksbut did not address Israeli forces’ actions against civilians.

During a meeting of the UN General Assembly, Akram expressed astonishmentat the focus on naming Hamas without considering the scale of Israel’sactions against the Palestinian people.

He emphasized the need for equity, balance, and fairness, which Canada isknown for, in such condemnations.

Akram pointed out that the Canadian ambassador chose not to mentionIsrael’s actions, which resulted in the deaths of 7,000 Palestinians andinjuries to 177,000, while singling out Hamas for condemnation. Hequestioned whether this approach represented a fair and balancedperspective.

Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan lauded Ambassador Akram’s speech at the UN,expressing support for his stance. During his speech, Ambassador Akramemphasized the importance of naming both sides, especially Israel, tomaintain fairness and equity in addressing the situation.
