The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has firmly rejected any potentialpostponement of the upcoming general elections, despite recent concernsvoiced by President Arif Alvi during a televised interview.
In response to these speculations, the ECP issued a resolute statement,underscoring its state of preparedness and unwavering commitment to theelectoral process.
The spokesperson representing the highest electoral authority announcedthat comprehensive preparations for the forthcoming general elections havebeen successfully concluded.
The statement further detailed the election timeline, indicating that thefinal list of constituencies is slated for publication on November 30,2023. This announcement follows the completion of the first phase ofconstituency delineation, with the second phase, involving the examinationof objections, set to conclude on October 27, 2023.
The ECP’s statement went on to specify that the hearing of objectionsrelated to preliminary constituencies is scheduled to commence on October30 or 31, underscoring the Commission’s steadfast commitment to adhering tothe established electoral schedule.
The proactive response from the Election Commission effectively dispelledany doubts raised by the President’s interview regarding potential delaysin the elections, reaffirming the Commission’s dedication to ensuring afair and punctual electoral process.
Additionally, the spokesperson reported that the first phase ofconstituency delimitation had been successfully finalized, and the periodfor filing objections to this phase was set to conclude on the followingday.
Subsequently, the election commission would initiate the process of hearingobjections related to the initial delimitation on October 30.
