President Arif Alvi expressed his admiration for Chief Justice Qazi FaizIsa, highlighting the nation’s high expectations of his performance and hispotential to meet them.
President Alvi clarified that he was not the one who initiated thereference against Justice Faiz Isa, noting that it was forwarded to himfrom the Prime Minister’s House. Subsequently, a former prime ministeracknowledged that the reference should not have been forwarded, as per Dr.Alvi’s statement to Geo News.
Regarding the timing of upcoming elections, President Alvi expresseduncertainty about whether they would take place in January, emphasizing theneed for immediate elections due to the current state of the country.
He stressed the importance of transparent elections for the nation’swell-being and its economic stability, emphasizing the significance ofpublic participation.
The President commended Nawaz Sharif’s statement advocating against seekingrevenge and noted that the PML-N is in search of a new narrative. Hepointed out the PML-N’s recent survey, which indicated that people desireunity within the party and a level playing field.
In another development, the Punjab Cabinet suspended Nawaz Sharif’ssentence in the Al-Azizia reference, a decision that President Alvicommented on.
President Alvi also expressed his strong condemnation of the May 9incident, emphasizing his stance against violence. He reminded that theconstitution dictates that the current president should continue theirresponsibilities until the next president is elected.
