Iran called on Wednesday for Muslim countries to sever diplomatic relationswith Israel and boycott Israeli products in response to Israel’s ongoingsiege and relentless bombing of the Gaza Strip.
The Gaza Strip has been under attack by Israeli occupation forces since thesurprise attack launched by the resistance group Hamas on October 7,breaching Israel’s defense. Israel has imposed a siege on Gaza, home to 2.3million people, with local authorities reporting the deaths of more than5,000 Palestinians, including around 40 percent children, according toGaza’s Ministry of Health.
Thousands of buildings have been destroyed, and over one million peoplehave been displaced in the territory, which is suffering from a lack ofessential supplies such as water and food. Hamas’s attack in southernIsrael resulted in the deaths of at least 1,400 people, mostly civilians,as per Israeli officials.
Reza Amiri Moghaddam, the Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, expressed regretthat the international community has seemingly ignored Israel’s actions inGaza, where even hospitals and mosques have not been spared from Israeliairstrikes. He emphasized that Israel’s attacks in Gaza violateinternational humanitarian and war principles.
Ambassador Amiri called for all Muslim countries with relations withIsrael to sever their diplomatic and economic ties and boycott Israeliproducts. He also urged Muslim countries to open their borders to help thePalestinians who have suffered from Israeli atrocities.
Ambassador Amiri expressed gratitude to Pakistan for not recognizingIsrael and suggested that greater coordination among Muslim countries couldhave prevented the Israeli regime from committing these actions.
Iran has criticized the United States for its role in the Middle East andcalled on Muslim and Arab countries to come together to “stop the crimes”of Israel, especially considering the increased U.S. military presence inthe region since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
