Khadija Shah arrest case: New developments reported in LHC

In Lahore, the Lahore High Court (LHC) expressed dissatisfaction with areport submitted by the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) related toKhadija Shah’s incitement case following the May 9 riots.

Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, in his order, stated that the report from theCCPO appeared unsatisfactory and directed the CCPO to appear in person atthe next hearing on October 27 to clarify his position.

Khadija, a PTI social activist and prominent fashion designer, had filed aplea seeking contempt proceedings against police high-ups for her arrest ina third undisclosed case.

Despite receiving post-arrest bail in two FIRs, she was rearrested forallegedly abetting in the Rahat Bakery arson case. Justice Najafi alsoquestioned the CCPO about the reasons behind the petitioner’s arrest inanother FIR.

The proceedings were adjourned until October 27, with an order for theCCPO to appear in person at the next hearing to explain the situation.
