Firstly, he called for theimmediate opening of the Aid Corridor to Gaza and urged for an immediateand unconditional ceasefire.
Akram expressed concern that Israel’s continued aggression could escalateinto a more extensive and perilous conflict, highlighting the need forswift international action.
Akram expressed disappointment that a ceasefire resolution had not beenpassed, underscoring the responsibility that falls on those who havecontributed to the escalation of the conflict. He warned that the ongoingIsraeli campaign in Gaza would result in more significant civiliancasualties and the potential for a broader conflict.
Furthermore, Ambassador Akram conveyed Pakistan’s unwavering support andsolidarity with the Palestinian people during these challenging times. Hestrongly condemned Israel’s relentless and indiscriminate bombardment ofGaza over a 17-day period, which had already claimed the lives of over5,000 people and left 15,000 more injured. The Pakistani envoy particularlycriticized Israel’s attacks on schools, residential buildings, andhospitals.
Akram pointed out that these actions by Israel constituted flagrantviolations of international humanitarian law and could be classified as warcrimes. He emphasized the need for accountability for those responsible forsuch atrocities.
Lastly, Ambassador Akram expressed regret that the Security Council had notissued a call for a ceasefire, emphasizing the responsibility of thosecontributing to the prolonged conflict.
