Tropical Cyclone Tej: PMD issues second Warning Alert

The Pakistan Meteorological Department’s Tropical Cyclone Warning Centerhas issued a second alert regarding Tropical Cyclone Tej. This alert hasbeen prompted by the gradual intensification of a depression in thesouthwestern Arabian Sea, which is currently moving in a westwarddirection.

While this development is causing concern in the region, it’s important tonote that there is currently no immediate threat to the coastal areas ofPakistan.

Authorities have indicated that the depression, situated approximately 1830kilometers from Karachi and 1760 kilometers from Gwadar, has the potentialto transform into a deep depression. The situation is under closeobservation as it continues to unfold.

According to the alert, the depression is expected to strengthen andprogress into a full-fledged typhoon by Sunday morning. It is projectedthat the typhoon’s path will lead it towards Oman and Yemen, posingpotential risks to those areas.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz has appropriately noted that the name ofthis typhoon, “Tej,” was suggested by India and signifies “speed.”
