The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has recently compiled a freshlist of 144 election symbols, which have been allocated to variouspolitical parties.
These 144 election symbols were distributed among the officially registeredpolitical parties, and notably, the election symbol of a ‘Cricket bat’ wasadded to the list, specifically for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI).Additionally, a total of 188 election symbols were reserved forindependent candidates who are not affiliated with any political party.
The ECP has taken the step of sending this revised list to the districtelection commissioners with a clear directive to ensure a fair and levelplaying field for all political parties involved in the electoral process.
In a related development, the ECP had recently suspended the registrationof a political party that failed to submit its financial statement, emphasizing the importance of financial transparency for political entities.
Furthermore, the Election Commission had earlier announced a deadline forfreezing voter lists across the country, with the process set to officiallycease on October 25. This action effectively halts the registration, correction, and transfer of voters, as stated by ECP spokesperson HaroonKhan Shinwari.
