The healthcare situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is once again uncertain asthe insurance company responsible for Sahat Sahulat Cards has issued anotice to stop medical treatment in the province’s hospitals.This decisioncomes after previous interruptions in health card services, despitegovernment promises to repay the debts.
According to the notice from the insurance company, panel hospitals inKhyber Pakhtunkhwa have been instructed to stop admitting new patients withSahat Sahlaah Cards starting from October 19.
While this move has caused concern among the citizens, it’s not the firsttime that healthcare services for cardholders have been disrupted.In thepast, the provision of treatment through Sahat Sahlaah Cards was suspendedon multiple occasions.
Each time, the government’s commitment to clearing the outstanding debtsresulted in the resumption of healthcare services.
However, these recurring disruptions have raised doubts about thesustainability and reliability of the healthcare support system in theprovince.
The Sahat Sahlaah Card initiative, which aimed to provide access to qualityhealthcare for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was praised for itspotential to relieve financial burdens on citizens during medicalemergencies.
