The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab has announced the arrestof two significant commanders affiliated with the banned Islamic Stategroup (Daesh), as well as seven other terrorists, in distinct andsubstantial operations.
In the first operation, the CTD officials assert that the apprehended Daeshindividuals were in the midst of plotting an attack on criticalinstallations. This operation unfolded in a border village near Lahore andresulted in the detention of Ameenullah and Waqar, identified as the twoarrested individuals.
The detained suspects were described by the authorities as pivotal figureswithin the Islamic State group, having completed preparations for animpending assault on sensitive facilities.
Additionally, it was disclosed that seven more terrorists were taken intocustody across various locations, including Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, RahimYar Khan, and Rawalpindi. These individuals were associated with the bannedTehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The authorities reported that explosive materials, mobile phones, weaponry,and currency were confiscated from the arrested terrorists. Notably, theterrorist networks had allegedly been plotting synchronized attacks onsensitive cities.
Subsequently, cases have been registered against the detained terrorists asofficials initiate a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
