Russian President Putin made big offers to Pakistani PM

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed optimism about the potential foreconomic cooperation between Pakistan and Russia during a meeting withcaretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar. Putin emphasized that theireconomic cooperation had significant room for growth and indicated thatthey would discuss this matter. This meeting took place on the sidelines ofthe third Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, where both leaders were inattendance.

The third Belt and Road Forum, a two-day event, commenced with theparticipation of various world leaders. Chinese President Xi Jinping hosteda state banquet, attended by leaders from countries such as Russia, Kenya,Ethiopia, Mongolia, Hungary, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Papua NewGuinea, Mozambique, and Chile.

During their meeting, President Putin mentioned the importance of listeningto each other’s colleagues and sharing visions to enhance cooperation invarious areas. Pakistan and Russia had recently resolved issues related tothe supply of crude oil, which had a positive impact on their bilateralrelations.

Russia had agreed to provide crude oil, petrol, and diesel to Pakistan atdiscounted rates, contributing to diversifying Pakistan’s energy sources.

In this context, President Putin emphasized that the joint intention was toensure regional security and stability.

He noted that Russia has traditionally been a supplier of food, includingcereals, and their trade with Islamabad has shown substantial growth, withone million tons of cereals supplied to Pakistan in the current year.
