Malaysia refused to participate in the Frankfurt Book Fair in support ofIsrael’s position. It withdrew its name from the world’s largest book fair.According to reports, Malaysia declined to participate in the world’slargest book fair when the literary association “Litprom” announced that ithad awarded the International Peace Prize to Palestinian author AdaniaShibli after Hamas attacks on Israel.
The fair’s organizers stated on Facebook that they would make specialefforts to highlight Jewish and Israeli voices in book fairs this year.
Malaysia’s Minister of Education, Fadilah Salleh, stated that the decisionnot to participate in the Frankfurt Book Fair was due to the organizers’pro-Israel stance.
