Former Chief Selector of the Pakistan cricket team, Mohammad Wasim, hascommented on the national team’s performance, saying that the team’smanagement is also questioning what is happening with us.
Wasim discussed the bowling aspect of the national team and expressed thatShahin Shah is the top priority for everyone, and there is no doubt thatthey are feeling the absence of Naseem Shah, and this responsibility fallson Shahin Shah Afridi’s shoulders.
He further expressed concern that it feels like something is not right withShahin Shah Afridi, whether it’s about his bowling or fitness, and it seemslike they are not seeing the same Shahin Shah who was in the Asia Cup.Shahin Shah’s body language suggests that he might not be comfortablesomewhere, perhaps dealing with some issues.
While speaking on the program “Pakistan Tonight with Syed Samer Abbas” onHum News, Mohammad Wasim said that in the history, it has never happenedthat our team has lost 8 wickets for just 36 runs.
He mentioned that they gave Indian bowlers more respect, which led toincreased pressure, especially on Shaheen Afridi.
Wasim stated that they lost 8 wickets while scoring 36 runs, but theproblem was that their batting performance didn’t shine when they had thebest time for batting.
He pointed out how Shaheen Afridi was struggling with his strike rate whilethey needed to score more runs. During this time, instead of demonstratingtheir batting performance, players started getting out.
Wasim emphasized that there was no batsman who got out due to a boundary, someone got out taking a single, and some got out playing small shots. Itseemed like the team was under pressure and mentally unprepared for how toapproach this pitch.
He mentioned that the initial 25-over batting plan of the national cricketteam was a significant factor in their defeat.
