Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader and former Prime Minister, Mian MuhammadNawaz Sharif, intends to return to Pakistan on October 21. However, sincehe was convicted and left the country before completing his sentence, he ismost likely to be arrested upon his return and presented before the courts.
His political party, Muslim League (N), is confident that he won’t bearrested, as they expect his protective bail to be granted before hisreturn. Afterward, he is likely to participate in political rallies inPakistan and then appear before the courts.
Nevertheless, legal expert Abu Zar Salman Niazi believes that an oldSupreme Court decision could be a reason for his immediate arrest uponreturn.
This decision suggests that a convicted person must be in custody beforetheir appeal can be heard in court; they cannot avoid arrest and obtainrelief from the courts without first being in custody.
Following the Supreme Court judgment there is strong chance that caretakergovernment will arrest him and then present him before the court whichwould further decide his fate.
