Former Pakistani cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed has made a prediction thatPakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, might consider temporarily leaving thefield during the upcoming World Cup matches if the team faces a challengingsituation.
Drawing from his experience working with the England team, where theyadvised Alastair Cook to step off the field and consult with the managementduring tough phases of a game, Mushtaq highlighted how such discussionswith the coaching staff often positively influenced the outcome of matchesin both Test and ODI cricket.
Mushtaq, aged 53, expressed his belief that Babar might adopt a similarstrategy during difficult situations in the upcoming matches.
According to him, taking a brief break to engage in discussions with thecoaching staff can provide the much-needed clarity and perspective.
He further emphasized that, in his view, when Pakistan encounterschallenging moments in future matches, Babar is likely to leave the fieldand communicate with the coaching staff, as using messages from thedressing room undermines a captain’s authority, making the captain’son-field presence a more effective approach.
