The interim federal government announced the appointment of Advocate SyedIhtesham Qadir Shah as the prosecutor general of the NationalAccountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday. According to a notification,Shah’s appointment aligns with the recommendation of the NAB chairman andis effective for the next three years.
With a career spanning over three decades, Shah brings extensiveexperience in criminal and related matters, including financial crimes. Hebegan his journey as an advocate in 1982, eventually achieving the statusof an advocate of the Supreme Court in 1991.
In 2007, he assumed the role of senior prosecutor for the Anti-NarcoticsForce, later earning a position as a judge in the Lahore High Court in2009. Shah’s contributions extend to his work as a regional prosecutorgeneral under the Protection of Pakistan Act, 2014, and his tenure as theprosecutor general of Punjab from 2014 to 2019.
Furthermore, Shah provided invaluable assistance to special militarycourts in the conviction and sentencing of individuals involved in seriousacts of terrorism, underscoring his commitment to justice.
