PML-N reconciles with another political party despite massive quarrel

The President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former PrimeMinister, Shehbaz Sharif, held a meeting with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, theleader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Chief of the Pakistan DemocraticMovement (PDM) at Shehbaz Sharif’s residence on Tuesday.

This meeting took place amid reported differences between the formercoalition partners regarding the date of the upcoming general elections inthe country. In this meeting, the two leaders discussed the overallpolitical situation and exchanged ideas regarding the necessity oftransparent, free, and fair elections.

They agreed to move forward with consultation and cooperation, emphasizingthat national challenges can be overcome through unity. Maulana FazlurRehman expressed his best wishes for the return of PML-N’s supreme leader,Nawaz Sharif, to the country.

During the conversation, Shehbaz Sharif recognized the Maulana’s assistancein preventing Pakistan from facing a sovereign default, highlighting thatover the past 16 months, political parties worked not just for their owninterests but to save the state.

He emphasized that unity, consultation, and collective action are vital toaddress the country’s challenges. Shehbaz Sharif stated that the return ofNawaz Sharif would strengthen the political and democratic system of thecountry.

Fazlur Rehman commented that Nawaz Sharif’s return is positive news forPakistan, highlighting that the former prime minister had been targeted forpolitical retribution. He expressed his belief that Nawaz Sharif and hisfamily had been unfairly persecuted, which will be remembered as a darkchapter in the country’s history.

Fazlur Rehman also criticized the labeling of political leaders ascriminals, referring to it as a form of political manipulation. The meetingwas attended by other PML-N leaders, including Ahsan Iqbal, Sardar AyazSadiq, and Ataullah Tarar.
