Saudi Arabia has called for an immediate ministerial meeting of theOrganization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to address the recent escalationin Gaza. Riyadh’s plea for an emergency ministerial OIC gathering is inresponse to the worsening situation in Gaza.
Within the OIC meeting, there was a renewal of condemnation directed at theIsraeli military for its actions and aggression in Gaza. The OIC reiteratedits disapproval of Israel’s actions, holding the nation responsible fordisregarding international resolutions.
On a broader international scale, the United Nations also weighed in on thesituation. On Tuesday, the UN reported that over 187,000 out of Gaza’s 2.3million residents have been forced to evacuate their homes. This marks thelargest displacement since 2014, when an Israeli air and ground offensiveled to the uprooting of approximately 400,000 people.
Furthermore, prior to this, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman engagedin a telephone conversation with Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas. Thepurpose of their discussion was to address and deliberate on the escalatingsituation unfolding in Gaza.
