Sri Lanka posted a total of 344 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in theirallotted 50 overs, making it the highest score against Pakistan in a WorldCup match. Prior to this, the highest score against Pakistan in a World Cupwas 336 runs, which India achieved in the 2019 World Cup. Hasan Ali took 4wickets, Haris Rauf took 2, while Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan, and MohammadNawaz took 1 wicket each.
Pakistan’s innings against Sri Lanka got off to a very disappointing start.The first wicket fell at 16, and the second at 37 runs. Opener Imam-ul-Haqscored 12, and captain Babar Azam scored 10 runs before getting out.
After losing two quick wickets, Abdullah Shafique and Mohammad Rizwanprovided some support. A partnership of 178 runs was established betweenthem at the third wicket. Later, Abdullah Shafique was dismissed afterscoring 115 runs while Mohammad Rizwan remained not out with 131.
