Despite the prevailing economic crisis, the Pakistan Democratic Movement(PDM) government allocated a substantial sum of Rs10 billion foradvertising across TV channels, newspapers, and digital media, as per anARY News report released on Tuesday.
A report detailing the PDM government’s advertising expenditures fromMarch 2022 to August 2023 was presented to the Senate’s standing committee.
Notably, the previous PDM government spent a significant portion of thenational treasury on advertising, with ads worth Rs348 million allocated tothe Geo Network. Furthermore, the PDM government disbursed Rs309.1 millionfor advertisements on the Dunya Network, Rs296.9 million on Hum TV Network,Rs282.8 million on Express Network, Rs268.3 million on Samaa TV, Rs217.8million on the news channel owned by the caretaker Punjab CM Mohsin Naqvi,and Rs21.7 million on ARY Network.
These advertising expenditures were distributed as follows: Rs3.5 billionfor print media, over Rs5 billion for electronic media, and Rs1.23 billionfor digital media platforms.
