After missing the first two matches of the World Cup 2023 against Australiaand Afghanistan, Indian top batter Shubman Gill is likely to miss thehigh-octane Pakistan clash on Saturday as he continues to recover fromdengue.
On Monday, the BCCI, for the first time, addressed Gill’s condition,releasing a statement indicating that the 24-year-old did not travel withthe team to Delhi, where India is scheduled to play Afghanistan onWednesday.
Following a drop in his platelet count, he was hospitalized in Chennai butwas subsequently released on Monday evening. Despite this, Gill remains adoubtful starter for the marquee World Cup clash against Pakistan inAhmedabad on October 14.
