The United Nations Security Council has rejected the American demand tocondemn Hamas for its actions against Israel. The Biden administrationstates that the United States stands firmly with Israel.
According to reports from American news agencies, during an emergencysession of the UN Security Council, the United States requested all 15members to denounce Hamas for its violent and terrorist attacks againstIsrael. However, the council members did not take immediate action on theAmerican request.
Later, the U.S. Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood told journalists that somecountries were ready to condemn Hamas’s attacks, but all the members of thecouncil did not agree on this matter.
The Russian Ambassador to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, stated thatthey condemn all attacks on civilians. He emphasized the importance of animmediate cessation of hostilities, ending the conflict, and restartingnegotiations after years of deadlock.
Previously, the Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jun also expressed condemnationfor all attacks on civilians but did not mention Hamas. He stressed theneed to prevent the situation from further escalation, avoid more civiliancasualties, and return the parties to a two-state solution.
