Pakistan team’s director, Mickey Arthur, has admitted that he knows the”strengths and weaknesses” of Sri Lanka, whom he spent two years coachingtheir Asian rivals. On Tuesday, in Hyderabad, former champions Pakistan andSri Lanka crossed paths in the World Cup, providing Mickey Arthur anopportunity to renew acquaintances with those players he helped prepare asa coach from December 2019 to November 2021.
Mickey Arthur told AFP, “Yes, I know their strengths and weaknesses, so wewill plan for all of them. They are a dangerous team, so we have to makeevery effort to defeat them.”
“Pakistan started their World Cup campaign on Friday by defeating theNetherlands by 81 runs in Hyderabad. After scoring 286 runs with the helpof Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan’s half-centuries, they bowled out theNetherlands for 205 runs in 41 overs.
Mickey Arthur admitted, “I enjoyed the first win even though it wasn’t agood performance.” But we made a lot of effort to win, and when it came toplaying XI, we had the players ready.” Pakistan has the possibility ofmaintaining the same lineup for Tuesday’s match against the Netherlands,which includes opener Fakhar Zaman in the playing XI, who had only scored12 runs against Holland.”
Regarding the only Pakistani batsman to score a double century in One DayInternational cricket, Mickey Arthur said, “I’m not worried about his form;he’s a good player and is just one innings away from a big score.” SriLanka will also be boosted by their victory over Pakistan last month withtwo wickets, which took them to the final of the Asia Cup in Colombo.”
