In the province of Herat in Afghanistan, a devastating earthquake struckyesterday, causing widespread destruction and claiming the lives of over athousand people. According to Afghan authorities, the earthquake that hitHerat was recorded with a magnitude of 6.3. The severe earthquake causeddamage to infrastructure and was felt in the provinces of Badghis and Farahas well.
A government spokesperson stated that due to the powerful earthquake, morethan 600 houses were destroyed in 12 villages in the Zindaji Jan andGhorian districts, affecting over 4,200 individuals. Search and rescueoperations are underway to rescue additional people trapped under debris.
