Israel launches counter military attack against muslim country

Israel initiated a barrage of artillery fire into southern Lebanon onSunday in response to Hezbollah’s attack on three Israeli militarypositions located in the contentious Shebaa Farms region. This exchange offire did not result in immediate casualties.

These events followed a surprising assault by Hamas on Israeli towns theday before, leading to a significant loss of life on both sides. Israelresponded with a retaliatory bombardment that caused casualties, with over250 Israelis and 230 Gazans reported dead.

Hezbollah, a well-armed group with support from Iran, claimedresponsibility for launching guided rockets and artillery at the threeposts in Shebaa Farms, citing their solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

On Sunday, the Israeli military announced that it had fired artillery intoa Lebanese area from which cross-border mortar fire had been launched. TheIsrael Defense Forces (IDF) stated, “IDF artillery is currently strikingthe area in Lebanon from where a shooting was carried out.”

In retaliation, Israel’s military disclosed that one of its drones hadtargeted a Hezbollah position in the Har Dov area within Shebaa. It’s worthnoting that the Shebaa Farms, covering a 15-square-mile (39-square-km)area, have been under Israeli control since 1967. However, both Syria andLebanon assert that this territory belongs to Lebanon.

In response to the escalating situation in Israel and Gaza, includingrocket launches, the United Nations peacekeeping mission in southernLebanon has increased its presence in the region. However, they have notimmediately commented on the recent developments.
