Imran Khan Toshakhana case: New developments reported in IHC

The Islamabad High Court has postponed the decision on the Toshakhana case,as requested by the former Prime Minister and Chairman of PTI.

The Registrar of the High Court has registered the Chairman of PTI’smiscellaneous request with objections. A two-member bench has beenconstituted for the hearing of the request. Chief Justice Aamer Farooq andJustice Babar Sattar are part of this bench.

The Islamabad High Court’s District Branch has raised three objections, questioning how two different requests can be made in one case, how reliefcan be sought again in a case where a decision has already been made, andhow relief can be sought in the first request where no relief was sought, now in the case?

The Chairman of PTI has requested to delay the decision on the Toshakhanacase and to make the state a party in the appeal. The former Prime Ministerhad appealed to the Islamabad High Court two days ago to postpone thedecision on the Toshakhana case.

In the application filed on their behalf, it was argued that the ElectionCommission had issued a notification of disqualification after the sentencein the case and declared them ineligible to participate in the elections.

The applicant stated that the notification of disqualification was issuedon the basis of the sentence in the case, and the notification should besuspended.
