Can Iran Produce Nuclear Capable Missiles with Russia s Support?

ISLAMABAD: Intelligence sources have revealed that Iran dispatched adelegation of senior nuclear scientists to Russia during the first week ofNovember under strict secrecy. The visit, conducted without publicannouncement, has triggered alarm among Western monitoring agencies.

The Iranian team held closed-door sessions with officials from Rosatom’ssecretive Sarov nuclear weapons laboratory, formerly known as Arzamas-16.Discussions reportedly centred on dual-use technologies critical foradvanced nuclear warhead miniaturisation and delivery systems.

Western intelligence reports claim the talks included high-performancecomputing simulations, neutron initiator designs, and specialisedmetallurgical processes that could enable Iran to mount a nuclear payloadon long-range ballistic missiles with Russian technical backing.

The meetings took place weeks after Moscow and Tehran signed an expandedstrategic partnership agreement. Analysts warn that Russian assistancecould shorten Iran’s breakout time for a deliverable nuclear weapon frommonths to weeks.

Neither Tehran nor Moscow has commented on the visit. The United States andIsrael have reportedly raised the matter through diplomatic channels, describing the cooperation as a dangerous escalation.

Iran maintains its nuclear programme remains entirely peaceful despiteenriching uranium to near weapons-grade levels at multiple facilities.
