Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Deepen Strategic Defence Cooperation

RAWALPINDI – Pakistan’s Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General SyedAamer Raza, held a series of high-level engagements with Saudi Arabia’ssenior military leadership during his visit to the Kingdom, theInter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

According to ISPR, Lt Gen Aamer Raza called on General Fayyadh Bin HameedAl-Rowaily, Chief of General Staff of the Royal Saudi Armed Forces, inRiyadh. The meeting focused on matters of mutual strategic interest,including strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, enhancinginteroperability and advancing collaboration under the Strategic MutualDefence Agreement (SMDA).

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening the historicfraternal ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing joint effortsto promote regional peace, stability and self-reliance.

A Special Meeting of the Pakistan–KSA Bilateral Defence Industrial Forumwas also convened in Riyadh. Pakistan’s tri-services delegation was led byLt Gen Aamer Raza, while the Saudi delegation was headed by H.E. KhalidAl-Biyari, Assistant Minister of Defence for Executive Affairs.

During the session, the two sides reviewed progress on ongoing defencecooperation projects and explored new avenues for joint ventures inemerging technologies, aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 frameworkaimed at localizing defence production and enhancing technologicalcapabilities.

Lt Gen Aamer Raza reiterated Pakistan’s continued support for the capacitybuilding and professional development of the Royal Saudi Defence Forces.The Saudi leadership acknowledged Pakistan’s longstanding contributions,achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, and its vitalrole in promoting regional peace and stability.

The latest engagements underscore the growing depth of defence andstrategic ties between the two brotherly nations, with a renewed focus onindustrial collaboration and future-oriented security cooperation.
