NANGARHAR, AFGHANISTAN — One of the key perpetrators behind some ofPakistan’s deadliest terror attacks, Qari Hidayatullah, has been killedin Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, sources confirmed on Wednesday.
According to reports, Hidayatullah was injured in an explosion and succumbedto his wounds early this morning. He was known for his involvement inthe PoliceLines bombing in Peshawar on January 30, 2022, as well as the Meena Bazarbombing in 2015, which claimed dozens of innocent lives.
Several Pakistani Taliban–affiliated groups have reportedly shared imagesof his body and details of his funeral, indicating that he remained anactive member of militant networks operating along the Afghanistan–Pakistanborder region.
Security analysts suggest that Hidayatullah’s death could deal a symbolicblow to TTP-linked networks in eastern Afghanistan, though the overallimpact on the group’s operational capacity remains uncertain.
