Car Catches Fire After Explosion Near Taramri, Islamabad

An explosion triggered a car fire near the Taramri area of Islamabad onTuesday afternoon, authorities report. The blast occurred around 2:30 pm inthe vicinity of the Taramri neighbourhood, following which the vehicleerupted into flames. Fire-fighting units quickly arrived on the scene, andthe driver managed to evacuate before the blaze spread further.

According to emergency services, the vehicle involved was travelling alonga roadside near Taramri when an apparent ignition source caused a suddendetonation, followed by the fire. Officials from the local fire brigade saythe car was badly damaged, and there was no immediate indication ofadditional casualties. Investigations are underway to determine whether theexplosion originated from the car’s fuel system, an external device oranother cause.

The spokesman for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) fire serviceemphasised that no other vehicles or structures were damaged, and quickresponse helped contain the blaze. “Our crews were on site within minutesand prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent properties,” he said.Meanwhile, local police are reviewing CCTV footage and interviewingwitnesses to establish how the explosion occurred. They are not ruling outthe possibility of a mechanical fault or deliberate act.

Officials from the ICT Disaster Management Authority (ICT-DMA) noted thatthis incident underscores the importance of maintaining vehicle fuelsystems and keeping fire-extinguishing equipment in high-risk zones. Theyurged motorists to inspect their cars regularly and report any unusualsounds or smells.
