Turkey has announced a complete suspension of its economic and traderelations with Israel, in response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis inGaza.
Speaking at a press briefing, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan saidAnkara will also close its airspace to Israeli aircraft. He described thedecision as part of a broader effort to pressure Israel over its militarycampaign in Gaza.
Fidan revealed that Turkey, alongside 52 other countries, has signed amajor initiative at the United Nations demanding a halt to the supply ofarms and ammunition that “fuel Israel’s war machine.”
The announcement comes amid heightened regional tensions following risinghostilities between Israel and Iran. According to a Turkish DefenseMinistry source quoted by international news agencies, Ankara hasaccelerated its military preparations, strengthening border security andenhancing its integrated air defense systems with domestically developedradars and weapons.
