India Seeks China’s Role in Shahbaz Modi Meeting to Reduce Tensions with Pakistan

*New Delhi (Monitoring Desk)* — According to sources in the Indian Ministryof External Affairs, following a recent de-escalation in its bordertensions with China, India is now looking to Beijing to help ease strainedrelations with Pakistan.

Reports suggest that New Delhi wants China to play a role in facilitating apossible meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime MinisterShehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the upcoming Shanghai CooperationOrganization (SCO) summit.

Diplomatic sources revealed that India’s Ambassador to Beijing, *PradeepKumar Rawat*, met senior officials at the Chinese Foreign Ministry onSaturday, where he conveyed an important message from the Indian government.

India reportedly views China’s mediation as a viable step toward reducingthe current standoff with Pakistan. However, neither Beijing nor Islamabadhas so far issued any official response to this development.
